Back in September, I was awarded the Yeck College Artist Fellowship at the Dayton Art Institute. I am still in the middle of the Fellowship and it has been a wonderful experience. I am one of four college fellows who work with fourteen high school fellows. What an honor it has been to see their progress! It is so exciting to see high school students pouring into their artistic skill. It has also been a great privilege to have the opportunity to work with them, and a great way to get a taste of teaching art.
Along with our weekly meetings, the college fellows are working on a brand-new body of work that will be exhibited together at the Dayton Art Institute from May through September. The exhibition opens on May 7, and there is an opening reception on May 19th. The high schoolers will participate in the reception, having their own work from the fellowship displayed there. Here is a press release that Cedarville University wrote about it: https://www.cedarville.edu/Offices/Public-Relations/CampusNews/2016/Art-Student-Earns-Prestigious-Fellowship.aspx
