Reflection
Oil on Canvas 10" x 16" Price: $350 Turning inward is dangerous. For some, there is a temptation to get stuck inside ourselves. We seek self-acceptance and self-love by obsessively looking inside for answers. But the answers aren't there; all we find the more we look is a force that draws us ever deeper inward, and threatens to destroy our souls. This self portrait is an attempt to wrestle with the inward demons and to find hope in something greater. True reflections look back at you, but this one chooses to look elsewhere - an important decision. To find healing, we must look away from ourselves, and lift our eyes. The inward battle cannot be won alone. We are hopelessly broken in our own strength, we are not sufficient to fix ourselves. We need hope, and light. We need the help of Someone greater. Every moment we breathe is a moment of choice between the consuming darkness, or the light. "You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light." - 2 Samuel 22:29, NIV |
